Janet L. Yellen was sworn in as the 78th Secretary of the Treasury of the United States on January 26, 2021. Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Secretary Yellen is an economist by training. She served as Chair of the Federal Reserve from 2014-2018 and is the first person in American history to have led the White House Council of Economic Advisors, the Federal Reserve, and the Treasury Department.
