Miss Catherine Krobo Edusei founded Eden Tree Limited in her native Ghana in 1997, after university studies and a decade of work in banking in the United Kingdom. Eden Tree produces fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables and distributed them to supermarkets and catering firms in Ghana. Subsequently she founded Eden Tree Restaurant.
In partnership with stakeholders, she has helped created jobs for urban farmers in Accra and the Ada area by providing them with training and education and then sourcing them as suppliers. As part of Eden Tree’s corporate social responsibility, the company donated equipment to 20 women to learn the craft of dress-making and catering to sustain themselves and their communities in the Northern and Brong-Ahafo regions of Ghana, as well as giving full and partial scholarships to the company’s own staff and their dependents.
Eden Tree is also an avid contributor to various Ghanaian nonprofit organizations such as Share Foundation, Dzorwulu Special School, Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Education Directorate, Community Hope and Care Foundation, and Help Feed the Children Foundation.
Catherine’s success with Eden Tree has earned her several distinctions and awards, including a Life Time Achievement Award for Promoting Urban Farming in Ghana, the Ghana Agribusiness Entrepreneur Award of the Year in 2013 and 2015, plus the TV Africa Award in Recognition of Women of Substance and Distinction in the Ghanaian Society. She is recognized as a strong promoter of women in business and received the 2012 national award from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in Ghana for “outstanding contribution towards nation-building.”
A native of Kumawu in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, Catherine is a mother of two with a degree in Business Administration from Camden College, London
