Gustavo Beliz is an Argentinian politician and expert in global governance. As Secretary of Strategic Affairs, he is a cabinet minister and is responsible for designing and implementing the foreign relations strategy for the Office of the President, working in partnership with Argentina's other ministries. He leads the countries efforts with multilateral organizations. He served during the presidency of Carlos Menem as Minister of Interior and as Minister of Justice during the presidency of Néstor Kirchner.

More than 20 years of experience working for the economic and institutional development of Latin America and the Caribbean, including 15 years at the Inter-American Bank of Development (IABD). As a Director of INTAL-BID (Institute for the Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean - Inter-American Bank of Development), he developed an agenda of connection among new technologies, physical infrastructure and regional integration. In his role as head of the Citizen Safety cluster, he multiplied sixfold the IABD project portfolio of the area and developed strategic alliances with international agencies such as UNOCD, OECD, World Bank, OAS, UNDP and Inter-American Dialogue, among others.

Beliz is a graduate of the School of Law at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (1989) and pursued postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics (1994) after winning a British Council scholarship to research globalization and state reform. He has been apontied by the Pope Francis as a members of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences of the Vatican.
