Yvonne Ndege is an award-winning former international television journalist and broadcaster. A media and communications professional with over 18 years’ experience, Yvonne has worked at the highest levels of global news, current affairs and documentary reporting and film making. She is a highly skilled multimedia content producer, working across television, radio, and online media. She is also an experienced and sought after media visibility strategist, and media training. Yvonne is best known as the former Al Jazeera English tv West Africa Bureau Chief & Correspondent, and formerly East Africa & Horn of Africa Correspondent. She has worked extensively reporting from over 40 countries across Africa, and been based in Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya, covering, conflict, politics, economics, business, environmental affairs, sport, music and the arts, among other issues across the African continent. Prior to joining Al Jazeera Yvonne worked as a BBC Correspondent and Producer in London, United Kingdom, for over 10 years covering the news and current affairs across the UK, the US and Europe. Yvonne is a recipient of the UN Correspondents Association Journalism Award for extensive reporting in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Yvonne has worked extensively as a Host and Moderator, for the Africa Union, EU, World Bank, IMF, African Development Bank, and UN agencies, among others. Most recently she worked as the Spokesperson for the UN Refugee Agency in Kenya, and is currently the Regional Spokesperson for the UN Migration Agency in Kenya. Yvonne holds a Master’s Degree from the London School of Economics in Political Science, and an undergraduate Degree in Communication from the University of London, Goldsmiths College. Yvonne was born and raised in London, United Kingdom, and is a British national of Kenyan origin.
