Swarnim Waglé is Senior Team Leader for Strategy, Policy and Partnerships at the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific in New York covering 36 countries. Between 2014 and 2018, he served the National Planning Commission (NPC) of the Government of Nepal as Member, and then as Head (Vice-Chair), for three years.
Dr. Waglé has worked as an international development professional for more than 20 years, including as Senior Economist at The World Bank in Washington, DC and at UNDP in Hanoi, Colombo, and New York. He also chairs the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS), a South Asian think-tank. Dr. Waglé holds a doctorate in economics from Australian National University and a master’s in international development from Harvard University.
