Simone Tebet is the Minister of Planning and Budgeting of Brazil. She was a Senator for the state of Mato Grosso do Sul between 2015 and 2022. In the Federal Senate, she led the first women's caucus in history and became president of the Joint Commission to Combat Violence against Women.

She was also the first woman to chair the Constitution and Justice Commission, and the first woman to run for the presidency of the Senate in 198 years. She has a degree in Law and was a university professor of Law.

She was considered by the BBC to be one of the most influential and inspiring women in the world.

She began her public life more than 20 years ago as a State Deputy. Later, she was elected mayor of her hometown, Três Lagoas, twice. She was Vice-Governor and Secretary of Government of her State. In 2022 she was the MDB's party candidate for the presidency of Brazil and received 4,915,423 votes, the third most voted.
