Economist Sergio Firpo is the Secretary of Monitoring and Evaluation for Improvement of Public Policies, an agency linked to the Ministry of Planning and Budget, headed by Simone Tebet. Firpo is a professor in the Unibanco Institute Chair at Insper, which investigates topics related to education and secondary school in Brazil. PhD in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley, in the United States, Firpo’s research interests are microeconometrics, policy evaluation, labor economics, development economics and empirical political economy. Evaluation is one of the public policy cycle stages that produces information and evidence to support the planning, design, implementation and monitoring of projects in the area.
