Noreyana Fernando is an External Affairs Officer at the World Bank, specializing in strategic communications for development finance. She helped lead communications for two IDA replenishments, mobilizing support from donor governments and partners. She previously worked on communications for the Human Capital Project and served as Partnerships Lead for the 2019 World Bank Youth Summit. Before joining the Bank, she was a fellow at Columbia University’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism and worked at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center. She began her career as a TV and radio reporter in Sri Lanka.
