Nicole Gaouette is a national security reporter for CNN Politics. She came to CNN after spending seven years at Bloomberg News as a State Department reporter, where she produced quick-turn breaking news stories and analysis pieces explaining administration foreign policy and strategy.
Previously, she covered national security and foreign affairs for publications including The Los Angeles Times and Christian Science Monitor. She's reported from 69 countries worldwide and been based in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Gaouette has a BA from McGill University in Montreal and studied journalism at Columbia University in New York. She is also an urban beekeeper and founded DC Bee, a collective that raises awareness about the challenges facing pollinators and helps small-scale DC beekeepers to sell raw honey in stores across the U.S. capital.
