Nayé Anna Bathily, a Senegalese and United Kingdom national, is the External Affairs Manager for Western & Central Africa at the World Bank. She leads the development of coordinated communications and partner engagement strategies across West & Central Africa. She is also in charge of providing strategic advice, stakeholder outreach and reputation risk management to the leadership of the region on key areas of focus: human capital, climate, fragility, conflict and violence agenda, digital transformation, gender inclusion and economic empowerment.
Previously, she served as Head of the World Bank’s Parliamentary Engagement program and has actively contributed to the creation of the Parliamentary Network on the Bank and International Monetary Fund. She has also launched several innovative initiatives to mobilize young parliamentarians for IDA replenishments and other key advocacy initiatives at the country, regional and global levels. Nayé has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. In 2016, she was nominated as one of the Choiseul 100 Young African Leaders of tomorrow. She currently sits on the Advisory Council of the Women in Africa Initiative (WIA), and the Women Investment Club and is a founding member of “Espace Jappo,” a network of African professionals from the Diaspora. In 2017, she launched Shine to Lead/Jiggen Jang Tekki, an initiative dedicated to mentoring and supporting disenfranchised high school girls in the poorer suburbs of Dakar, Senegal.
