Dr. Natu Mwamba is the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Tanzania since June 2011. She is the first woman ever to hold such executive position at the Bank of Tanzania. Until her appointment, Dr. Mwamba was senior lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam. She holds a Ph.D in Economics from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom and a Masters’ degree from the University of Dar es Salaam.
Dr. Mwamba is an accomplished publisher, with dozens of academic publications to her name, covering various economic, social and women issues.
