Mirai Maruo is a Gender Specialist with the Gender Group at the World Bank. Mirai brings 10 years of experience with international organizations, governments and an NGO, focusing on women’s empowerment and human rights. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Gender Specialist at the United Nations Population Fund designing and implementing projects to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and to promote sexual and reproductive health in Sierra Leone and Syria. She was also involved in the drafting and negotiation of the United Nations Human Rights Council resolutions and engagement with the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
