Matthew McGuire is a Partner at TPG Growth and The Rise Fund, where he leads fundraising and stakeholder engagement. Prior to joining TPG McGuire was at The Abraaj Group, which he joined to create and lead a policy institute focused on emerging markets investing. From 2015-2017 he was the United States’ Executive Director of the World Bank Group, where he represented the U.S. on the boards of Bank’s operating units, including the International Finance Corporation; and he also served in the Obama administration in senior roles at the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Earlier in his career, he spent almost a decade in senior roles in the asset management industry, including at Ariel Investments and Citadel. He received his Ph.D. in Anthropology from Harvard University, his B.A. from Brown University, and he has a Certificate of Religious Studies from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies.
