Mário Campolargo earned a degree in Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, a Master's in Computer Science from Imperial College London, and postgraduate degrees in Management and European Studies. He joined the European Commission in 1990, holding positions including Head of Unit at DG Information Society, Director of Emerging Technologies and Infrastructures at DG CONNECT, and Deputy Director General and Director General of DIGIT. Mário contributed significantly to European initiatives in Interoperability, the COVID digital certificate, and the modernization of European Public Administration. In March 2022, he became the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Administrative Modernisation in the Portuguese Government.
