Malinda Seneviratne is a sociologist by training, educated at the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka and then Harvard University, the University of Southern California, and Cornell University. Prior to taking up this position at Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute (HARTI) in February 2021, he spent over 20 years as a journalist working for or contributing to many national newspapers in both English and Sinhala, covering a wide spectrum of subjects including constitutional reform, conflict-resolution, political economy, literature, environmental issues and international relations. At HARTI, he leads the country’s primary source of data and analysis on agriculture, rural development, and food systems.
