Jorge Arbache has a degree in Law and a Ph.D. in Economics. He is the Secretary of International Affairs of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Management. Previous to that he was the Head of the Ministry’s Economic Advisory Board. Arbache has experience in the public and private sectors, and in international organizations. He is also a professor of economics at the University of Brasília. Prior to joining the Ministry of Planning, he served as senior economic adviser to the president of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and senior economist at the World Bank in Washington. His interest lies in economic growth agendas and sectoral policies including international trade, investment, productivity, competitiveness, innovation, digital economy, industry and services. He is the author of four books and dozens of scientific articles published in international academic journals.
