Luong The Huy began volunteering in LGBTI advocacy work in 2008. In 2011, Huy officially joined the LGBTI rights movement and worked on the community's advocacy and capacity building work, dealing with press, schools and health centers. Huy was on Forbes Vietnam's "30Under30" list as one of the 30 most inspiring people under the age of 30 in Viet Nam and Asia Society's "Asia 21 Young Leaders" list of accomplished young professionals from across the Asia Pacific region.
In 2018, Huy received dual scholarship from the Fulbright Program and Dean's Fellowship Award to pursue the Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the University of California, Los Angeles, with specialization in Law and Sexuality. In 2019, Huy came back to Viet Nam and reunite with his former organization as Director of the iSEE Institute, a Vietnamese NGO working for human rights and civil society movements.
