Dr. Hussam Al-Angari was born in Riyadh. He obtained his bachelor and master’s degrees in Accounting from King Abdulaziz University, where he joined work as a lecturer in 1991. In 2000, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the same department after he received his Ph.D. in Accounting and Financial Management from Essex University, UK.
In 2005, Dr. Alangari was appointed as a Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at the Faculty of Economics and Administration in King Abdulaziz University. Then, in 2009, he was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration. On 11 January 2013, he was appointed by a Royal Decree as a member of Shura Council (Parliament). During his term, he was the Vice Chair for the Financial Committee for two years, and then the Chair of the Committee. On 7 May 2016, he was appointed by a Royal Decree as the President of the General Auditing Bureau of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a ministerial rank.
