Gudlaugur Thór Thórdarson is Minister for Foreign Affairs for Iceland and World Bank Group Governor since 2016. He is Deputy Chairman of the center-right and Eurosceptic Independence Party, the lagest party in parliament and served as Minister of Health and Social Security (2007-09). He joined Althingi (parliament) in Reykjavík in 2003 and has amongst others served on the committees of Budget; Foreign Affairs; Health; Trade; Fisheries; and the Environment, and on the Icelandic Delegation to the EFTA and EEA and the EU-Iceland joint parliamentary committee. He has a degree in Political Science from the University of Iceland. Recently he visited India at the end of 2018.
