Carolina Renteria is Chief of FAD’s Public Financial Management (PFM) I Division. She is responsible for delivering PFM capacity development in Anglophone Africa, Europe, Middle East and Central Asia and for developing a comprehensive PFM analytical agenda, including on budget and treasury, infrastructure governance and fiscal risks management, fiscal transparency, governance, anti-corruption and auditing.
Prior to joining the IMF in 2016, she worked at the World Bank as Executive Director and Lead Economist for Africa. In Colombia she served as Senior Advisor to the Fiscal Policy Council, National Budget Director and Director of the National Planning Department, a ministerial position. In her multiple roles, she has led the design and implementation of important PFM reforms. She holds a master’s degree from New York University on Public Administration and from Universidad de Los Andes in Economic Development.
