Dr. Anita Asiimwe is currently the Director-General of the National Child Development Agency appointed by the Government of Rwanda. She has previously served as the National Coordinator for the National Early Childhood Development program, which played a key role at enhancing multi-sectrol collaboration across various sectors to promote human capital development.
Previously, she was Minister of State in charge of Public Health and Primary Health care for the Government of Rwanda, during which time she also served as the vice chair of the Strategy investment and impact committee for the Global Fund Board and a member of the Global Fund Board representing the Eastern and Southern Africa Constituency. Prior to this she had served as the Executive Secretary of the National commission to fight against AIDS and held other responsibilities that contributed to the national response to HIV and AIDS. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from Dundee University in United Kingdom and a degree in Human Medicine from the University of Rwanda.
