Dr. Ana Bucher is senior climate change specialist in the Environment, Natural Resource & Blue Economy Global Practice and a regional climate focal point for the Latin American and the Caribbean Region in the Climate Change Group of the World Bank. Dr. Bucher has more than fifteen years of experience in research, development, and management of international programs related to climate change and sustainable development. She has led several initiatives related to the integration of adaptation to climate change and the implementation of national climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.

Her work has focused on understanding the science and impacts of climate change, as well as advising on the integration of adaptation and low-carbon development within development initiatives in a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, transportation, urban and rural development and natural resource management. She has previously served as the Manager of a large trust fund (NDC Support Facility) that supports the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) in more than 30 developing countries.

She is currently advising on the integration on climate action within LAC country engagements and co-leading the update of the WBG Climate Change Strategy for the Latin America and Caribbean region. Dr. Bucher has a Ph.D. in Soil Sciences from Pennsylvania State University, USA.
