Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly has been Prime Minister, Head of Government of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, since January 2017. Previously he served as Senior Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency, since the accession to power of President Alassane Ouattara (March 2012 - January 2017), Mr. Gon Coulibaly is the very first Head of Government of the IIIrd Republic. Following a Cabinet restructuring on 19 July 207, he became Prime Minister, Minister of Budget and State Portfolio, Head of Government
A close associate of President Alassane Ouattara, Mr. Amadou Gon Coulibaly has been a member of several government cabinets. He was Minister of Agriculture from 2006 to 2010 and Senior Minister, Minister of Agriculture in the Government of National Reconciliation of Prime Minister Seydou Elimane Diarra from March 2003 to February 2005.
Mr. Amadou Gon Coulibaly has also held high-level posts in the Ivorian public administration. He served successively as Director of Economic and Financial Studies at the “Direction du Contrôle des Grands Travaux (DCGTX)” and as Deputy Director General from 1994 to 1995. From November 1990 to December 1993, he served as Technical Advisor in charge of Coordination and the Follow-up in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara.
Mr. Amadou Gon Coulibaly is a graduate of the Centre Hautes Études Construction (CHEC) of Paris (1983). After obtaining the Baccalaureate (C-series) in 1977 at the Lycée Moderne in Dabou, he went to France to pursue his university studies. He completed the the Grandes Ecoles at the Lycée Jean Baptiste Say in Paris from 1977 to 1979, before obtaining his Engineering degree in 1982 at the Ecole des Travaux Publics (ETP) in Paris.
A politician, he was a member of the National Assembly from 1995 to 1999, and then from 2011 to date. Mr. Amadou Gon Coulibaly has been mayor of the commune of Korhogo since March 2001.
