Alberto Carrasquilla is Colombia’s current Minister of Finance, a position he had held in Álvaro Uribe’s government (2003-2007). Previous positions held include that of: Vice Minister of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (2002-2003); Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Universidad de los Andes (2000-2002), and; Economic Adviser in the Comptroller General of the Republic (1999-2000). Mr. Carrasquilla’s earlier work experience also includes positions of: Associate Researcher at Fedesarrollo; Professor at the Universidad de los Andes; Senior Research Economist at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington (1997-1999), and; Technical Manager at Banco de la Republica (1993-1997). Mr. Carrasquilla holds both a Masters’ degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
