Dr. Abraham Tekeste became Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance and Economic Cooperation (MoFEC) in 2016. Prior to his appointment, he served as MoFEC’s State Minister for four years, while also serving as Deputy Commissioner to the National Planning Commission (2015-2016) and Minister of Urban Development Policy Research and Plan Bureau Head (2005-2010). From 2003-2005, he served as the Addis Ababa City Administration Mayor’s Secretary and Office Head. Dr. Tekeste played a key role in the development of the first and second Growth and Transformation Plans. He was a strong advocate for the government’s shift toward performance-based budget allocation, as well as the development of national urban development and good governance programs.
