José-Manuel Bassat has over 20 years of experience in designing communications strategies to promote economic, institutional and social reforms around the world. He currently works as Communications Advisor in the Europe and Central Asia Vice-Presidency of the World Bank advising governments from across the region on how to use communications to advance their reform agendas. Prior to his current assignment, he managed the communications team in the World Bank’s Vice-Presidency responsible for Leadership, Learning and Innovation.

Before joining the World Bank, he worked on communications for economic and legal reforms in Kazakhstan. He holds a bachelor's degree in Russian Studies and History from the University of London and a master's degree in International Relations and Economics from SAIS-Johns Hopkins University. A native of Spain, he speaks Spanish, Catalan, English, Italian, French and Russian.
