As a 16 year old, Zakiyyah Ali attended the Red Cross General Assembly and spoke at the Humanitarian Village about the perils of nuclear testing on the Pacific’s oceans, land and people. She is now involved with “Project Survival Pacific”, which was formed by a network of young people passionate about climate action, resilience, sustainability and healthy oceans in the Pacific.

Ms. Ali is a 4th year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Economics at the University of the South Pacific. She has interned at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and recently spoke at the Pacific Resilience Meeting on behalf pacific youth, demanding greater youth engagement and representation in policy making spaces. She also spoke on the climate catastrophe and its impact on Pacific women at the UN Secretary General’s panel discussion at USP.
