Zainab Shamsuna AHMED is the Executive Director for EDS25 - Africa Group 3 Constituency, representing Angola, Nigeria and South Africa on the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group; the position she assumed since November 2024. Ms. Ahmed, a Nigerian, also served as Alternate Executive Director (2023-2024) in the same office. She currently serves as the Chairperson of the Budget Committee on the Board.
Prior to joining the WBG Board, Ms. Ahmed served in various high-level positions: she served as Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning (2018-2023). She previously served as Minister of State, Budget and National Planning (2015-2018); Member of the International Board, Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) (2016-2019); Executive Secretary and National Coordinator, Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) (2010-2015); and Managing Director, Kaduna Investment Company Ltd (2009-2010).
