Mr. Stephenson King is the Parliamentary Representative for Castries North in Saint Lucia and was appointed as Senior Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Transport, Physical Development and Urban Renewal in August 2021. He is currently one of the longest serving Parliamentarians in Saint Lucia’s House of Assembly and previously led the country as its Prime Minister between 2007-2011. He once served as Leader of the Opposition and has held many ministerial portfolios since he entered elective politics in 1987, including Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labor, Minister of Finance, National Security, External Affairs and Broadcasting, and Minister of Health and Labor Relations. Prior to his electoral win in 2021 as an Independent, he was affiliated with the United Workers Party for more than 30 years, where he served in senior roles such as the General Secretary of the Party from 1997 to 2005, and subsequently as Chairman.
