Dr. O'Connell has guided USAID on economics-based decision making since 2014. He sits on the faculty of Swarthmore College’s Department of Economics, as an economics professor. Dr. O’Connell's most recent research focuses on monetary policy in low-income countries, including Tanzania and the East African Community. In 2013, he served as a Visiting Scholar at the IMF. He has a PhD in Economics from MIT.
