Sanjay Kathuria is a fellow at the Wilson Center, a senior visiting fellow at the Centre for Policy Research in India, and a nonresident senior fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies in Singapore. He is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and visiting faculty at Ashoka University. Previously, he was a lead economist at the World Bank. He is one of the leading thinkers and commentators on economic integration in South Asia and the economic development of the region. In 27 years at the World Bank, from 1992 to 2019, he worked in Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and South Asia, including field assignments in New Delhi and Dhaka. Before joining the World Bank, he was a fellow at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations in New Delhi, from 1982 to 1992. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the Delhi School of Economics and MPhil and PhD degrees in economics from Oxford University.
