Rogier van den Berg is the Acting Global Director for the WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. He is leading the Ross Center’s efforts to support cities in unlocking transformative change together with a global team and offices in the US, UK, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, the Netherlands, Turkey, Ethiopia, China, India and Indonesia. WRI Ross Center’s vision is to provide high quality of life, equitable access to jobs and essential services for all urban residents while cutting emissions and building resilience. With both research and strategic interventions in cities the Ross Center supports cities, engages with the national government and is considered a global thought leader on urban mobility, integrated climate action and urban planning and development. Van den Berg is an urban development specialist, architect, former entrepreneur and academic who most recently led UN-Habitat’s Urban Lab (Nairobi, Kenya): a multidisciplinary urban project and integrated planning facility working with over 80 cities and partners in Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia. Earlier, he was a founding partner of the architecture and planning firm Zandbelt&vandenBerg (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) and he also served as head of the Master of Urbanism at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and as lecturer Regional Planning at Delft University of Technology
