Patricia Janiot is a senior anchor for CNN en Español. Janiot joined CNN in 1992 and anchors Emmy-winning evening newscast Panorama Mundial. She has traveled extensively in Latin America to report live-on-key world events, such as the terrorist attacks of New York and London; the death and funeral of John Paul II reported from the Vatican; from Kuwait in the wake of the U.S. war in Iraq; the U.S. invasion in Iraq from Kuwait; the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the Gaza Strip; and numerous historic presidential elections in Latin America, US, and the world. She has interviewed the vast majority of Latin American heads of state over the past 27 years and has received numerous journalism accolades, among them a Golden Mike Award in 1990, Colombia's Simon Bolivar award for investigative journalism, a 2002 Spanish-language Television Industry Award (INTE) for "Best Female News Personality", and the US White House's "Champions of Change" award, among others. Most recently, Patricia received an Emmy award for Panorama Mundial in the category of Best Spanish Newscast. She serves as the president of the non-profit organization "Colombianitos", and as the general director for "Innovamérica", the first regional award to highlight the best initiatives in many fields. Born in Bucaramanga, Colombia, Janiot holds a journalism and mass communications degree from Universidad de la Sabana in Bogotá, a broadcasting, radio and television production degree from Colegio Superior de Telecomunicaciones in Bogotá, and holds a degree in English from Cambridge University.
