Her Excellency Nyeleti Brooke Mondlane, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Action of the Republic of Mozambique. Nyeleti Mondlane previously served as Minister of Youth and Sports. Before that, she served as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. Between 2009 and 2015, she served as a member of Mozambique’s national legislative branch, the Assembly of the Republic.

Ms. Mondlane was born on 17th of January 1962 in Syracuse, New York, United States of America. She is the daughter of Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane, a freedom fighter and founder of FRELIMO; the liberation movement that led the fight against colonial domination in Mozambique. His father, a then PhD Professor in Anthropology in New York, married Janet Rae Mondlane, an American activist. Young Nyeleti completed her primary studies in Tanzania. She later obtained her bachelor’s degree in social sciences (Social Anthropology) from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, a Certificate in Conflict Management from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Liverpool.
