Ms. Ortuño is a lawyer and public official specialized in EU fundamental rights and chemicals legislation. She is currently the AEPD´s manager responsible for attending citizens, DPOs and controllers’ consultations on data protection and the requests for access to public information. She served until 2019, for 10 years, as the first Chairman of the Board of Appeals of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The Board of Appeal provides legal redress in an independent and impartial manner to legal or natural persons which consider to be adversary affected by certain decisions related to evaluation and registration of chemicals. The Chairman is entrusted to ensure the quality and consistency of the decisions of the Board of Appeal. The work of this Board contributes to the protection of the environment and human health in the EU. Previously she has occupied, as a legally qualified official of the Spanish National Administration, several posts of responsibility in the field of legislative drafting, international cooperation in the field of Justice, fundamental rights, privacy and data protection.
