Mauricio Rodas is a lawyer from Universidad Católica de Quito and a Fulbright Scholar with a master’s degree in Government Administration and in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. He started his professional career with ECLAC. Later he worked as a consultant in public policy for the Mexican Government. He founded Fundación Ethos, a Latin American think tank based in Mexico. As its Executive Director, Mr. Rodas developed the Responsible Government Model. In 2011 Mr. Rodas returned to Ecuador and founded SUMA, a national political party. On 2013 he ran for President of Ecuador. In 2014 he was elected Mayor of Quito, the capital city of Ecuador – a position he served for 5 years. He currently is World Co-President of United Cities and Local Governments Organization (UCLG), member of the Board: Global Covenant, the C40 and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI). He is a Young Global Leader and member of the Future Global Council of Cities and Urbanization of the World Economic Forum.
