Marc Levinson is an independent historian and economist. He worked for many years as a journalist, becoming finance and economics editor of The Economist in London. He spent a decade at JPMorgan Chase, developing a unique industry economics function and initiating the bank’s environmental research for investors. He later served as a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and managed transportation and industry analysis at the Congressional Research Service. Marc has written for leading scholarly publications and reviews books for the Wall Street Journal. His books include The Box: How the Shipping Container Made the World Smaller and the World Economy Bigger, a prizewinning history of an innovation that made globalization possible, and Outside the Box: How Globalization Changed from Moving Stuff to Spreading Ideas.
