His Excellency Mahamane Sani Mahamadou is Niger Republic’s Minister of Petroleum, Energy and Renewable Energies since April 2021.

Prior to this appointment, Sani Mahamadou held various senior roles in both private and public sectors. In June 2016, he was appointed Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Niger, in charge of communications, press and ICT.

In June 2018, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic of Niger. In this administrative role, Sani Mahamadou was in charge of running the President’s cabinet, as well as assisting the President in the monitoring and conduct of state affairs in various strategic sectors, notably economics, industry, mining and energy, or infrastructure development.

Sani Mahamadou holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences from Purdue University (U.S.A), a Master’s in Economic Policy from the University of Birmingham (U.K) and a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government (U.S.A).
