Lois Gicheru is the Founder and CEO of Solafrique, a company committed to increasing access to electricity in Kenya through the development of solar micro grids in rural and underserved areas. She has amassed a wealth of experience offering energy consultancy services to rural-based commercial entities and local governments in Kenya. Lois is the Deputy Secretary and Treasurer of the World Energy Council Kenya Member Committee and plays an active role in contributing to the implementation of effective energy policy in Kenya. She has served on the Future Energy Leaders Board at the World Energy Council, a role that enabled her to ensure the active participation of youth and women in the global energy transition. She was awarded the entrepreneur of the year award at the 2016 AEEP stakeholder’s forum for her community mini-grid model and was also recognized as an upcoming energy leader during President Obama’s 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. She has a background in Finance and Accounting from Strathmore University and in Supply Chain Sustainability from Rutgers University.  Her passion is to provide sustainable energy solutions and related services for the off-grid and rural communities in Africa in a bid to attain and advance sustainable livelihoods.
