Kate Hampton became CEO of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation in March 2016, having run CIFF’s Climate Change team since 2009 when the foundation made its first grants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Kate sits on the board of WeProtect and is chair of the European Climate Foundation and holds advisory roles with the Observer Research Foundation (India), the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, and the COP28 Advisory Committee.
Prior to CIFF, her career spanned roles in government, finance, consulting, think tanks and NGOs, including working for Climate Change Capital, where she was Head of Policy. She has also advised policy makers in several roles, including as Senior Policy Advisor for the UK's G8 and EU presidencies in 2005.
In 2022 Kate was awarded an OBE in The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Birthday Honours List for services tackling climate change and supporting the UK Presidency of COP26. She has been featured in the top 100 Profiles of Paris, a collection of stories from the key people who created the Paris Agreement. She holds a BSc from the London School of Economics and a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
