Jim Thomas is an Economist, with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, responsible for overseeing the monthly collection of prices and calculation of U.S. Import and Export Price Indexes, a U.S. Principal Federal Economic Indicator (PFEI). He has worked on numerous technical assistance missions to develop price indices in the Caribbean particularly Anguilla, Barbados, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago in conjunction with the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Center (CARTAC) and the International Monetary Fund. Jim has coordinated U.S. price data collection for the OECD-Eurostat Purchasing Power Parity program over multiple surveys. He was a member of the International Comparison Program Technical Advisory Group for the latest round in 2011. Jim served on the United Nations Friends of Chair evaluating and providing recommendations for both the 2005 and 2011 ICP rounds.
