James Sampi, a Peruvian national, joined the World Bank’s Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Global Practice in the Latin America and Caribbean region in 2016. He has worked on lending and analytical activities at the regional and country levels in Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. His work is focused on growth and macro-structural policies. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked for the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs in Peru covering issues related to public finance management at national and subnational levels. James is a doctoral candidate in economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and holds a two master’s degrees in economics from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain.
