Ilan Goldfajn is Chairman of the Board, Credit Suisse Brazil, since September 2019.
He was Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil from 2016 until March 2019, and Deputy Governor from 2000-2003.
In 2018 he was elected "Central Banker of the Year" by The Banker magazine.
He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Previously in his career, he was partner, chief economist and advisor to the board of Itaú Unibanco. He also was founding partner of Ciano Investimentos and partner of Gávea Investimentos. Earlier, he worked at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C.
Throughout his career, he held academic positions such as professor at Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) in Brazil and also at Brandeis University in the U.S. He also published several papers, books and articles.
