Denis Medvedev is a lead economist in the Firm Capabilities and Innovation unit of the Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation Global Practice at the World Bank Group. His current research interests focus on innovation and firm productivity, while his earlier work explored international trade, income distribution dynamics, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

In his previous assignments at the World Bank, Medvedev was responsible for policy dialogue, lending operations, and analytical work across a range of countries in South Asia, Latin America & the Caribbean, and Africa, as well as developing forward-looking scenarios as a member of the Development Prospects group. He is an author of more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, World Bank reports, and working papers. He holds a Ph.D. from the American University.
