Despite unprecedented biodiversity loss and the onset of a new mass extinction, natural systems continue to be degraded, both directly by human activities and indirectly by the broader climate crisis. The collective global challenge of both protecting and rejuvenating the world’s biodiversity has become more urgent than ever.

Session One – The Roots of Development
For decades, protections for natural systems have been misconstrued as barriers to economic progress. What will it take for policymakers, businesses, and citizens to see that biodiversity and natural systems are not only compatible with, but also crucial for, growth?
