Dr. Zara Shubber is a Senior Health Specialist at the World Bank’s Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice where her work focuses on primary health care transformation, non-communicable diseases and health system resilience. Zara has more than a decade of experience working in a variety of healthcare contexts from developed to low income countries across Africa, Middle East, Asia and Europe, including those characterized by fragility, conflict and violence. Before joining the World Bank, Zara worked as a consultant for a number of international organizations including the World Health Organization and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as in an academic setting at Imperial College London’s Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology. Zara is a physician and infectious disease epidemiologist by background and has published 35 peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of health.
