Yyannú Cruz-Aguayo is senior economist in the IDB Labor Market Division. She is a specialist in impact assessments of social programs and recently co-led the research agenda on the impact of teacher quality on learning outcomes in early schooling. She has worked at the World Bank, Banco Nacional de Mexico and the Ministry of Finance of that country. She is author and co-author of academic articles (in journals such as Quarterly Journal of Economics) and book chapters on the effectiveness of social programs and early childhood development, among other topics. She is currently collaborating on development of loan instruments for the Bank’s member countries. She has a master's degree and a doctorate from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research agenda in the Labor Markets Division focuses on the effectiveness of labor interventions for disadvantaged populations.
