Yasmin Kumi is the CEO and Founder of Africa Foresight Group (AFG), a women-led company transforming African businesses into global champions. With roots in Ghana and Germany, Yasmin’s diverse background fuels her commitment to impactful change across the continent. Yasmin began her career at McKinsey & Company and, during her MSc at Oxford, led the Oxford University Africa Society. Identifying a gap in African private sector development, she established AFG in 2016 to provide top talent to African businesses and support them in becoming global champions. Under her leadership, AFG’s flagship product Peralta has been established as a marketplace for gig work supporting SMEs in over 25 African markets with over 250 workers, delivering more than 200 impact projects over the past five years.
AFG co-founded the African Hidden Champions (AHC) initiative in 2021 to support homegrown mid-sized African companies in becoming global leaders in collaboration with the German Investment Corporation (DEG) and the African Development Bank. The network counts more than 50 companies from across Africa with average revenues of 200mn and aims to facilitate the creation of 2.5mn jobs. AFG also runs a training platform called AHEAD that supports young professionals on their journey towards becoming flexible workers in Africa with a unique curriculum that combines African studies and business skills enhancement. Currently, the platform has more than 600 people from 20+ countries in training. It aims to train 25,000 professionals over the next 10 years.
Yasmin has received accolades such as the Harambe Gold Room Award and being listed as one of Ghana’s “30 under 30” pioneers. AFG has been featured in CNN, Forbes and The Economist.
