After returning from the United Kingdom with a BA (Honors) in Business Information Management and Finance from the University of Westminster, Thurane Aung joined the family business in 2002. He worked his way up by learning the business as a Project Manager on construction sites, and became Chief Executive Officer of the Group in 2011. The main focus of Thurane Aung’s role and responsibilities is business strategy and expansion of all of Dagon Group’s businesses. He has experience setting up several new businesses within the Dagon Group, as well as negotiating for new joint ventures with several Japanese multi-national companies. He also contributes a good amount of his time to developing the different business sectors he works in as the executive committee member of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and Myanmar Young Entrepreneur Association (MYEA), project director of the Myanmar Thilawa SEZ Holdings Company and vice president of Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Limited.
