Dr. Kininmonth is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Marine Studies at the University of the South Pacific teaching Coral Reef Ecology and Marine Spatial Planning. He obtained a degree in zoology and genetics from the University of Melbourne and later obtained a Masters in Resource Science and a PhD from the University of Queensland. Dr. Kininmonth has over 20 years of field experience in marine and coral reef ecology including leading teams across the Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea. His research is focused on understanding the interaction between social and natural systems. To disentangle the drivers in the system he uses emergent properties in networks and artificial intelligence techniques. Dr. Kininmonth is a strong advocate of action now to avoid catastrophic climate change.
